Great big crazy world

Have you ever wondered why the term "upstairs", in a given context, seems to signify an elevated status? A "higher up"? We use the phrase, "The Man Upstairs" and others like it. In a secular office setting, it seems employee's who are higher up on the totem pole tend to be upstairs. The higher the office, the more elevated the position. . . .


So let me get this straight: the people with the highest paying jobs in the secular world are forced to travel a greater distance to their plush offices than those humble employee's who simply get out of their cars, dust off their work jeans and get going?
