Misc.

So I finally got a bit of inspiration for my newsletter. A good thing too, considering it's due this week and I've only just now started it. I've watched news on the cyclone in Burma/Myanmar closely. According to the City of Carrollton website, there are 120,000+ people living here. Depending on who you listen to, those who lost their lives are anywhere from 60,000 on up to around that figure. Can you imagine half of the population in city gone? Kinda brings some perspective.

I decided to write up a synopsis of the tragedy in my own words. It's proven to be a challenge to fit enough word pictures onto a 8.5/11" piece of paper. It astounds me how quickly a disaster like this fades from the news. If it weren't for the extra fuss being made about aid going into the country, I doubt that the story would have received more than three days coverage.

Life happens at you fast. Isn't that a quote of some sort? Anyway - lots of changes in my family's life. Actually it was kinda cool. The pastor on Sunday spoke from Phil 4 and contentment. The context of the verse (so often recited) "I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me" is contentment. The point made Sunday was that life will constantly be in a flux. The only thing that is our peace and constant is Jesus and His strength giving you the ability to be content. Good timing as life continues to go by at a fast clip.

A visitor asked me a few days ago, "So what do you have planned after this [internship year]?" I replied that I was on staff w/ GFA and would continue to work here. They persisted, "So you don't have any long term plans?" I had to smile to myself. This IS my long-term plan. I'm not going nowhere. I was talking to one of my girls tonight about how in the world's eyes it looks like I've thrown my life away. But in perspective of eternity, this is a life well spent. What's a career and position compared to that, anyway?
