As I write this, I have a lovely "Passionate Mango" smoothie at my elbow. Passion fruit and mango mixed together to create a refreshing summer drink. Given the heat, my smoothie was mostly thawed by the time I got home. Escape is the smoothie/coffee house of choice for many GFA friends. It has great fare and a unique atmosphere. Where else might one fine busts of famous men alongside a castle mural of sorts and bonsai trees?
Our neighbors are in Florida for a week, so we're helping to take care of a couple wild bunnies they're sheltering before releasing them in the greenbelt. They're so tiny they can fit in the palm of your hand. The girls in my house love having them. The first night they took bunches of pictures with the lil' furballs.
This afternoon's adventure unfolded as I was cleaning the front bathroom. All of a sudden I heard water running through the pipes, like when a hose is being used. It took me several minutes before I decided to investigate (I had passed it off as one of the girls using the water somewhere). I opened up the window and found a torrent gushing from the water faucet outside. Since none of us use that faucet I went outside to turn it off. The knob had broken, thus allowing the water to pour out. At this point it had been 10 minutes of this. A looong story short, I made more than a dozen calls, had a staff member come out to turn the water off, routed our shower schedule to another staff member's house next door, and had my landlord come out. We have a temporary solution until a plumber can come out Monday. Thankfully, we can keep the water on at our house. I'm telling ya, I'm learning all sorts of things about house maintenance and repair. Several days ago one of the toilets overflowed and thankfully I was able to remember how to shut off the water to it. I've learned how to change an air filter, went after a snake w/ a kitchen knife (it was already dead) and wrestled w/ the sprinkler system here and there.
So... nothing happening in my life hehe
