"Aus tiefer Noth schrei' ich zu dir"

So if you all haven't figured it out yet, songs play a major role in my life. One I really love is a little-known hymn by Martin Luther. Our worship pastor unearthed the awesome lyrics and set music to it. I was captivated by the beautiful German words. I'll write up the first verse in German and then in its modern translation:

Aus tiefer Noth schrei' ich zu dir,
Herr Gott, erhoer' mein Rufen,
Dein gnaedig' Ohren kehr zu mir,
Und meiner Bitt' sie oeffnen.
Denn so du willst das sehen an,
Was Suend' und Unrecht ist gethan,
Wer kann, Herr, vor dir bleiben?
Out of the depths I cry to You
O Lord now hear me calling
Incline Your ear to my distress
In spite of my rebelling
Do not regard my sinful deeds
Give me the grace my spirit needs
Without it I am nothing
Without it I am nothing
