Catch-Up

For some strange reason I woke up at 7:30 this morning. Oh well, I have coffee to help wake me up. It's real quiet in the house - the girls are wiped out from a very busy orientation week. It was great to be a part of some of the classes - mostly team building activities. I look forward to what God will do in each person's life - both interns and IDT. I know I'll be learning a lot.

One memorable activity had us split into pairs. One person was blindfolded and another had to verbally guide the blind one across the room. First time around I was blindfolded. I couldn't hear the directions unless I heard my name first (it was pretty noisy). We did okay. The second time, we weren't allowed to use words. The room erupted into gasps of disbelief. Then frantic conversations between teammates. After that is was comical: all manner of animal noises were employed to guide the 2nd teammate across the room. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I can bark like a dog. I didn't save my teammate from hitting one of the "off limits" papers, but we tried. There were owl hoots, hand claps, and cock-a-doddle-do's. I can't remember what else. Quite fun.

We had dinner at our neighbor's house last night. A staff family who are delighted to have interns living next door for the 3rd year in a row. They have been very gracious and offered anything in their house we needed - from muffin pans to tools in the garage. I helped make "experiment cookies" that actually turned out. A first for one who has grown up using recipes.
