What's in a name, anyway?

The name for this blog came out of nowhere one morning when my mind began to wander from the work sitting on my desk. I had often thought of creating a blog, especially after keeping close tabs on the blogs of my friends and co-workers. Three things barred the way: 1) No title ideas 2) "Who will my audience be?" and 3) "Where will I find the time to update this thing?". You see, I had maintained a small web site for my family and it took many hours of thought and creativity just to keep it going. I managed to work myself into a corner where I had too many balls in the air - and then happily the site fell apart in cyberspace and I didn't have enough know-how to fix the double and sometimes triple templates that plauged my content. So I was content to monitor the lives of those around me. But... I like to write... and I like to think out loud...and I like to share things that I'm learning or thinking. And a blog seemed 50 times easier to manage and update than a normal web site. Pretty much it came down to a name. Juliet might have rhetorically asked what real significance there is in a name, but for once I disagree with her. A title has great importance when drawing interested readers.
So... Why "PacaScrat" and "Scrat's Squeak"? Since the audience I am addressing knows me pretty well a brief explaination will suffice: Ever see Ice Age? (If not, I have a copy you can educate yourself with). The prehistoric rat/squirrel is one of my favorite characters. He doesn't say anything, but his noises of distress and/or triumph as he chases after an acorn are quite entertaining. I have a stuffed version of him on my desk. And I have been told I immiate Scrat's noices pretty well. PacaScrat springs off a line in the movie "Pack of trouble, pack of flying fish" [Scrat is sent flying through the air at this point and the light went off in my head "PacaScrat!"]
"PacaScrat" became a screen name of sorts, and "Scrat's Squeak" entered the recesses of my mind just a couple days ago. Triumph at last! So - no promises as to how often I will post or what you might find. I tend to have a lot on my mind. So one post might be a random song, then next might be a soapbox. Stick around and tell me what you think :)

So... what do I think? I think you're nuts - in a cool, fun sort of way. :) Looking forward to "getting into your mind"... scary but looking forward to it! (heehee)
