"Going to town" and other strange idioms

What, might you ask, is an idiom? Well never fear, the online dictionary is here! "[An] expression whose meaning cannot be inferred from the meanings of the words that make it up."

Samples:

"Going to town" -- acting with speed/gusto (wonder what history one could dig up on that phrase)
"Kick the bucket" -- to die (it sure upsets the apple cart of life)
"Upset the apple cart" -- disrupting, disturbing (free apples anyone?)
"Cat out of the bag" -- sharing a secret (ever try putting a cat in a bag?)
"Spill the beans" -- see "Cat out of the bag"
"Raining cats and dogs" -- stormy weather (I prefer the old fashioned phrase 'Raining pitchforks and hammer handles')
"Walking on thin ice" -- addressing a sensitive/sore topic (this could be life threatening)
"Frog in my throat" -- hoarseness (some people have singing fish in theirs)
"Haven't the foggiest" - I don't know (someone in the UK come up with this one?)
"Armed to the teeth" -- Well armed (someone ran into a neighbor's dog and coined a phrase...)

Well there ya have it.. hope it got a few laughs.
